The most common upload limit

100KB is a typical cap for application forms, marketplace listings, forum attachments and content management systems. Unlike 20KB or 50KB, it leaves room for a genuinely useful image: a typical photo can stay around 800–1200 pixels wide, which still looks good on a phone or laptop screen. In most cases the tool reaches 100KB by adjusting quality alone, without changing the dimensions at all.

Getting the sharpest result

If your photo is far larger than the screen it will be viewed on, first resize it to the width you need with the Image Resizer. Fewer pixels at higher quality usually look better than many pixels at low quality.
Keep the target at 100, or a little lower (for example 95) if the site counts 1KB as 1,000 bytes.

When PNG does not shrink

PNG is lossless, so a detailed photo saved as PNG may not get anywhere near 100KB. If you choose PNG and the target cannot be reached, the result message says so; switch the format to JPG or WEBP. Screenshots and simple graphics, on the other hand, often fit as PNG.

Will my image be resized?

Only if quality reduction alone cannot reach 100KB. The result message always shows the final pixel size.

Are images sent to a server?
